Notes:
OHS Training for Committee
- mandatory 8 total hours of OHS training for Joint Committee members and safety representatives
- Joint Committee members and safety representatives can take 8 hours leave time for this
- link from Jeni - self led online training (2 hours of 8 hours)
- remaining 6 hours of training can be taught by facilitator or 3rd party - external providers to $75-$125 per person
Speed control signs
- along Mill bay Road near the band office/ each end of Jesken road.
- from community : Monday June 03 as I was waiting for the bus after school there was a car with 3 young kids that started to speed up once they passed the stop sign too quick for me to get a license plate to inform patrol.
Ensuring ends of roads trees/bushes have been tidied for safety reasons.
- Something that was always done before and hasn’t been maintained.
- It’s important for the children that wander the community and for road users to see if anybody is there waiting to cross.
- Mill bay Rd and Ferry Rd can be so busy especially summer time
- Overhang of tree by admin building - should be trimmed, fire hazard, maybe a arborist to assess all trees on reserve land
- clear bushes around signs (e.g. administration sign at band office)
Zero Tolerance
- at Front desk and other areas
- regarding aggressive behaviour, swearing, yelling
- red and white
- C+C approval July 11
Hul'qumi'num Signs
- C+C approval on July 11
Over flow parking signs
- upper area should be for clients and lower parking should be for staff or over flow parking with proper signage
- Staff should not park close to buildings or around- safety Hazzard - Kids playing, residential area, blind spots
Main admins area
- stairs non slip on each step
- when it rains it can get slippery
- ash vault vs. metal (funding for metal would be better)
Emergency Response Guide
- who in the community can act quick if urgent matter happens, fire, evacuation, flood, storm etc. Especially if it takes time for Leadership to be present
- Emergency Response Guide to be released
Clear civic address signage
- for homes and buildings - for emergency response
- talked to Melissa months ago, she said she may have funding for this
Educational workshops
- for community: what to do in case of fire, grease fire, earthquake, windstorm etc. educating is key to survival, even the youth can take part
- Jeni to handle this - messaging on Facebook 'tips' etc.
Action Items:
- ask if 8 hours of OHS training can be counted as training allowance under Malahat - Jeni Gunn

- draft an email to Melissa/Shannon regarding signs on/off Reserve - Desiree
- determine who maintains bushes/trees on reserve land (on housing lands, communal spaces) -Jeni
- figure out Malahat reserve 'campus style' signage maybe fund through CPIIR - Steph
- write service request for non-slip at admin office and enviro office - Des
- every building to have an emergency response guide and make available to community - Jeni
- bear safe garbage bins - Jeni
