Troubleshooting: PaperStream Capture Cannot Find Scanner

If you encounter an issue where PaperStream Capture software does not recognize your Fujitsu scanner, follow the steps below to resolve the issue. This solution involves copying and renaming a specific driver file within the Windows system directory.

Fix: Update TWAIN Driver File

  1. Locate the TWAIN Driver File:

    • Open File Explorer on your computer.
    • Navigate to C:\Windows\twain_32\Fjicube\.
    • Find the file named Fjicwrap.wrp.
  2. Copy the File to Your Desktop:

    • Right-click on Fjicwrap.wrp and select Copy.
    • Navigate to your desktop, right-click on an empty area, and choose Paste. This action copies the file to your desktop for editing.
  3. Rename the File:

    • Right-click on the Fjicwrap.wrp file on your desktop and select Rename.
    • Change the file name to Fjic3800.ds. Make sure to confirm the change if prompted by your operating system.
  4. Copy the Renamed File Back:

    • Right-click on the newly renamed Fjic3800.ds file on your desktop and select Copy.
    • Navigate back to C:\Windows\twain_32\Fjicube\.
    • Right-click in an empty space within the folder and select Paste to copy the renamed file back into this directory.
  5. Restart PaperStream Capture:

    • Close PaperStream Capture if it is open.
    • Reopen PaperStream Capture to check if the scanner is now recognized.

Important Considerations

  • Administrator Rights: You may need administrator rights on your computer to modify files in the C:\Windows directory. If you do not have these rights, contact your IT administrator for assistance.
  • Backup Original File: Before modifying any system files, it's a good practice to make a backup. You can copy the original Fjicwrap.wrp file to another location before renaming it.
  • Scanner Model and Driver Compatibility: Ensure that the fix applies to your specific scanner model and that you have installed the correct drivers compatible with your operating system.
