Safe Work Check-Ins

Check-in and -out methods

If working from home or other offsite location, please complete regular check-ins via slack message to your supervisor. Setting an accompanying slack status to indicate when you are out of office will also help communicate your location in the event of emergency, and availability to others in the organization (e.g. working remotely, offsite meeting, on vacation etc.).

For fieldwork, you may check-in via cellphone while completing any work-specific safety protocols (e.g. sail plan).  For instances where you may be required to work out of service, talk to your supervisor about an alternative method of communication to be used.

If working in office, please use the memo board at the doorway to mark yourself “in” or “out”. Add any notes for the week including days when you’ll be out of office (e.g. WFH Tuesday and Thursday, or Vacation Wednesday-Friday)

When to check in

If working offsite, please send a message to your supervisor at the following times:

•    When starting work for the day
•    When taking lunch and when you’ll be back
•    When finishing work for the day

Examples of working offsite include working from home, travel, fieldwork, or working out of office within the community.
