Objectives
The objective of the grant is to provide support to Malahat to participate in discussions to co-create a vision for the future of the Island Rail Corridor and to support immediate/short term improvements on/or adjacent to the Corridor for the benefit of the community and its members.
The grant is also intended to provide initial funding for the Malahat Nation to support engagement related costs associated with the short- and long-term planning for the Island Rail Corridor and safety, maintenance and/or rehabilitation investments on/or adjacent to the Island Rail Corridor, with permission of the Island Corridor Foundation, where required.

Participate collaboratively with Regional Districts, provincial and federal governments and the Island Corridor Foundation with an objective to establish a shared vision that improves the Corridor in the near term and benefits directly impacted communities as well as the whole of Vancouver Island over the long term, particularly First Nations, for the use of lands going through or adjacent to their reserves and Traditional territories and to which First Nations agree |

Provide input into the development of a Terms of Reference to formalize the objectives of the shared vision, inclusive of how to coordinate planning funding, in collaboration with Regional Districts, provincial and federal governments, and the ICF, in consideration of the following:

Reports
The Recipient will submit a final report by December 31, 2024 in a form acceptable to the Ministry, which provides an overview of accomplishments during the Term of this Agreement.
